Born in Yorkshire, England, son of Thomas Mercer and Margaret Pegg Embly. Conversion to Mormonism in England about 1838; immigration to Nauvoo, Illinois, between 1842 and 1844; exodus west ; death of his daughter from exposure; activities at Winter Quarters, Nebraska; birth of a daughter on the plains; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1848; settlement near Mill Creek, Utah; settlement at Pleasant Grove, Utah, 185-; removal to American Fork, Utah; family data; pioneer activities at American Fork; incident related to Thomas L.
